My volume bonus has a CSI multiplier on it. If my scores fall below the threshold, I capture 70 percent of the bonus I earned through actual sales performance. The OEM frames this as a quality incentive. What it actually is, is a mechanism to claw back money after the fact using a survey instrument I do not control, administered at a time I do not control, to customers who have figured out that a bad survey score is leverage for free work at their next service visit. I had a customer this quarter explicitly tell my service advisor he was going to give us a low score unless we covered a repair outside warranty. That is not a customer satisfaction problem. That is extortion enabled by the OEM's survey structure. I fixed the problem because losing the CSI hit would have cost me more than the repair. The OEM got a good score. I paid for it. This is the partnership.
