Automotive new is reporting that the Honda Ridgeline will go on hiatus for 18 months until a new model is brought out. My rep is telling me that they will bring out a replacement that will look a lot like a Honda Passport with a truck bed in a couple years. So it sounds like we will get an ‘updated’ truck on a platform that is 3-4 years old by the time it comes out. When will Honda start bringing out cutting edge product again, instead of rebadging dated stuff that is behind the technology curve?

The current Ridgeline sells…
The current Ridgeline sells poorly precisely because truck buyers do not want a car-based platform regardless of how modern it is. A boxier, more truck-looking replacement on existing architecture might actually outsell what it replaces. The problem Honda has never solved in this segment is visual credibility, not platform age.
