Domestic destination fees are now averaging $2,189 per vehicle. Full-size GM and Ford trucks and SUVs are at $2,795. That number has gone up 163 percent since 2025 and another 25 percent on top of that in 2026. The fee that used to be a minor line item on a window sticker is now a meaningful chunk of transaction cost and it is not negotiable, it is not optional, and it is not something we can control. Customers notice it and they ask about it and there is no good answer that does not make the OEM look like they are running a hidden price increase through a line item most buyers never paid attention to before.

What makes me tired about this is that we are the ones absorbing the customer reaction every single day and nobody at the OEM level is fielding those conversations. I had a guy last week walk in with a printout, circled the destination fee in red, and put it on the desk before he even sat down. Fine. I get it. But I have been selling this brand for nine years and I have never felt less supported in handling a basic customer objection than I do right now. There is no talk track for "we just decided to charge you more and called it logistics."
